With both USB Type A and serial connectors, this device is a perfect solution for connecting legacy RS232 equipment such as barcode scanners and industrial devices to computers  in retail, IT and digital signage scenarios.

Thanks to COM Port Retention technology, once the USB to Serial Converter with COM Retention has been installed and configured, it can be disconnected from the computer and reconnected to any available USB port on that computer at any time without having to reconfigure your software, saving time.

USB to Serial RS232 Adapter

In trying to diagnose a 1998 Volvo ECU fault, the software I use (is so old) I needed a RS232 serial Port with (COM1) only on Windows XP. I could not find a laptop with a serial port, so had to use USB. I looked at various cables but this was the only one that quoted you can specify the COM Port number. I plugged the device in, Windows found the driver and I could just go in and set the Port number to (COM1) and it all worked superbly. A good quality product that is well supported by customer support as I had a couple of phone calls with them to clarify. I recommend them.
